Instant Transfer Problem at PayPal

paypalWell, over the weekend I encountered a problem especially for all of you that rely on the instant transfer from your bank when your Paypal funds are low.  There is an Instant Transfer Problem at Paypal and when you call there is no solution, no answers or at least anything logical that they told me.

This is my story and it caused me alot of grief and many unnecessary hours on hold, time trying to get thru an automated system that wanted to know what my problem was – and it don’t understand that you want to talk to a “REAL” person.

Ok what happened was that I normally I keep an average of $100.00 in my Paypal and the rest I send to my checking like I have always done for the last 6 years.  When I pay things and then there is now enough in there is has always been instantly taken from my checking account until this weekend.  AND no it didn’t matter that my account was a verified account in good standing.

This weekend that option was NOT available – the only option that was available was echeck from my bank or credit card.  Well the echeck would take 3 – 5 business days and I really don’t like using my credit card and it’s only on  there for emergencies.  So I got on the phone and called them.

Now grant you I had to go thru so many loops and run around from so many different support people that transferred me to another person that transferred me to another and finally to a supervisor that had to transfer me to their supervisor to hear – get this – that this is a “new” security system that they have installed to help them with fraud.

So they apologized for this as they see that my account in in good standing and that they would override the system so that I would have instant again.  AND this one supervisor did and for the rest of the weekend this worked great UNTIL today – same thing again.

Again I called to go thru all the same crap again to only hear the same crap again but this time this person said that they could not override the system and tried everything that they knew to try and it was not working and asked him so now what???????

Well the answer I got was that you can try again in a couple hours and it might go thru – see this “new” security puts all the transactions in a big pot and then it randomly picks this one to pay instantly and this one it will not.  By this time I was steaming and said so you are going to put my account in that random pot – someone that has been a loyal paying customer for 6 years and in good standing – that just does not make sense.

So then they tried to tell me that the computer just picks numbers and it’s nothing personally against me.  Well you know me by now as I like to keep things on a personal basis am fuming – so now I’m just a number in your big pot – does matter that you have always got paid from my bank all these years.  I even told them that I can understand you reasoning for wanting to do this and think that the accounts that have ripped you off, not paid you should be the ones in that big pot – not your customers that are in good standing.

So warning – if you rely on instant transfer from your bank – don’t be surprised is this is not available for you sometime – so when you are paying make sure that it’s saying instantly from you bank – otherwise echeck from your bank or this will show as xyz on your credit card.  Being so upset after all this, I went to Google afterwards to see if I was the only one that was having this problem and this is what I found – pretty disturbing if you ask me – from a processor that so many of us rely on. I look forward to hearing your comments and your views on the instant transfer problem at Paypal – and am hoping to find some solution

  1. I understand your frustration. These automated phones systems have gotten a little ridiculous, in my eyes. There should always be an option to press “0” for the operator. My local bank just set one up and I will never call them again. It’s faster for me to drive there and talk to the teller. Hmmmm, maybe that was their goal????

I don’t use Instant Transfer at Paypal so hopefully my account is safe and far away from that infamous random pot. Sorry, for your headache Nancy. I hope you got a direct line to a supervisor on speed dial.

  2. I just told my dad about this problem where we didn’t encounter the same problems. The people who are having these problems, it must be isolated. Because he told me that Paypal always sends out an email at least a month before making a new policy change. He also reads every single one they send out. He checked our account, and it’s showing the option if we need it. 🙂

    • Well I keep up with things pretty well to considering how fast things change but this one slipped by me as I did not get no notice about the new security being installed and that the instant may not be available for some of the time. They even told me as an analogy – it’s like you can go thru security at the airport 1000 times and then one time they pull you off to send you thru another security system. – Bull Crap

  3. Yes, I suddenly began having problems with subscription payments and with the problem being described as “no funding options available”…I also called PayPal and got a really nice lady who had no clue what was going on.

I even had to cancel subscriptions and restart them again, at higher amounts because my regular subscription was “failing”…very disheartening knowing that you have worked hard to create a good payment reputation with a Company you have been working with for 8 years, only to have them “fail” payments even though you know you have money available for the payment!!!!

Stopping Fraud should be PayPal’s exclusive problem to solve and they certainly shouldn’t “mess” with people’s accounts when there is absolutely no reason for them to take that type of action.

Waiting for the next “round” of “failed” subscription payments…:(

  4. I love it when “they” make changes which are supposed to be good for the customers (so they say) but in fact it makes life for them worse. I don’t see how putting everything into one big pot does any good for fraudulant people. Hope it gets solved for you!

  5. I understand your frustration Nancy, I sure hope it gets resolved quickly. Thanks for informing about this ridiculous Paypal “security change”. I think its time Payza or some company step up to the plate. Blessings!

  6. Thanks for the heads up but I have never had problem with paypal, just the other pay processor. I know your frustration……..

    Thanks

  7. It’s sad to hear that this is not working to it’s fullest potential, but as a Canadian, I don’t really feel your pain, we don’t have that feature on our Canadian accounts. Although we have been inquiring about it for some time. This does shed some light on the subject though, I guess they’re still looking to solve this particular problem before they release it outside of the USA. Sadly, it looks like you guys get stuck being the guinea pigs. 🙁

  8. Well, now I know why some of my subscriptions failed, BUT as frustrating as it is, it is not all paypals fault… blame the mobs, drug dealers, ect that launder money though our banking systems every day. If you look at that ‘pot’ they are talking about, the traffic exchange industry, is probably just a tiny piece of the puzzle in the millions of account holders, but in trying to keep us as safe as the big guys, we get all the crap that rolls downhill… as the little guy always does.
BUT… in a pinch I have figured out a cheaper solution, being homeless does that for ya…lol… so if the instant transfer doesn’t go through… go to your local convenience store and buy a green dot money pak, they cost 4.95 and within 15 minutes load it to your paypal card and off you go. This works really great if you need money too, say your standed and you need someone to send you money, they don’t have paypal, they can go get a card and text you the pin number and WALA the money is there. Hope this helps in a sticky situation.
And believe me I understand… dealing with something like it only the Humane Society, but the bureaucracy these days is getting way too much.

    • Well I did see that option on there for instant and also seen that there were many places that you can find this Green Dot Money Paks and they even listed Walmart which opened 24 hours a day here – so it’s a thought – thanks for the info

  9. Hi Nancy,

I haven’t had this problem yet. I always keep a reserve in my PP balance to make sure I have a sufficient balance to handle anything coming in. That includes any annual subs coming up.

BUT… I did spend 14 years at Sprint and became familiar with VRU’s (Voice Response Units). If you don’t hear an option for an operator (or associate or whatever they call them at that company), try pressing the “#” key several times. If that doesn’t work, then try the “*” key. One of those will usually bypass the system and send you to an operator. On rare occasions, the “0” can be pressed anyway to get through, even though they don’t give that option on the list.

    Hope that helps. 🙂

    ~Brian R.

    • Thanks Brian nice that you keep a reserve and I usually do also unless a deal comes along that I just can’t pass and it wasn’t in the budget and it what happened over the weekend but it all worked out finally. I did find after multiple calls if you keep saying Representative when asked what you want they will finally connect you.
